Who’s on your team?

Social networking can be lonely stuff. After all, I sit in my little home office drinking coffee and trying to explain in detail to people why they should pay attention to me using 140 characters or less.

And I try to do this in less time than it takes me to actually write the article that I’m trying to promote. Which got me thinking: Who is on my team?

Sure from time to time one of my friends will forward a link to one of their friends, or someone will kindly submit my page to stumbleupon, or some random internet stranger find my work link worthy. But those acts are few and far between.

So who really is on my team? My mom is somewhat supportive, but she really doesn’t get the internet. She signs all her comments on Facebook “Mom” as if I won’t recognize her from her full name, or Facebook profile (note to self: help Mom post a profile pic next time I visit.)

Then there’s my husband, who is very supportive in offline ways, but has his own work to worry about.

Then there are my friends, which are an equal split of not internet savvy (as in they believe all bloggers are pretty much do is discuss politics and complain about Twilight) and not online at all.

I guess this means that I’m actually going to have to be a member of my own team and not be so shy about putting my work forward.
