I hate moving things around

I really do. My husband is moving his studio back to our house, which means that the abandoned space I’d taken over for my sewing and fiber arts studio has to be returned to it’s original owner.

Now I know what England felt like when they lost the lease on Hong Kong.

one of my fabulous creations from the space I'm now not able to use, I'm going to miss this space

Totes, dress forms, fabrics, ironing board, cutting table and machines all have to be moved and rearranged. I am bummed. If I were England I wouldn’t take this nonsense, but since marriage is a give and take I suppose I’ll put up with it– at least this once.

So once again, I’m left trying to triage the essentials. Not only in terms of tools and materials, but trying to figure out where am I going to spend the majority of my time, and which orientations lend to or detract from particular tasks (I’m left handed and use rotary blades left handed, but always use scissors right handed.)

I’m curious now, how other people go through the process of creating a work space (not just for sewing, but other occupations) at home. What do you do to make your space more productive? If you had an unlimited budget what would you do?
